ORTHODONTIC Services

Teens

When early intervention is not indicated, a patient’s growth and development can be monitored by Dr. Martin until it is time to begin orthodontic treatment.

In most cases, treatment is usually started around the time the second molars or “12 year molars” begin to erupt.

While most teens will be treated with braces, an increasing number of teens are choosing to be treated with clear aligners.

Orthodontic treatments for teens

traditional metal braces

Traditional Metal Braces

Traditional metal brackets or “twin” brackets are the most commonly used type of braces and are more comfortable today than ever before.

Made of high-grade stainless steel, twin brackets straighten your teeth using a sequence of wires that are “tied-in” to the brackets using elastic bands.

With twin brackets, you have the option of adding colored elastics for a more unique and colorful smile during your treatment!

self-ligating metal braces

Self-Ligating Metal Braces

Self-ligating brackets are made from the same materials as twin brackets, but these brackets use a specialized clip in place of elastics to help the archwire guide the teeth into place.

The clip helps reduce the amount of friction on the wire and requires fewer adjustments because there are no elastics to replace.

ceramic braces

Ceramic Braces

A popular option with our adult patients, ceramic or clear braces, allow for the patient to receive all the benefits of traditional braces with the added benefit of the brackets being essentially invisible to the eye.

Effective, comfortable and discreet.

clear aligners

Clear Aligners

Clear aligner therapy involves wearing a series of clear, plastic aligners that gradually move your teeth into proper alignment.

Aligner therapy is the ultimate in terms of esthetic treatment options and is therefore a very popular choice for working professionals.

A growing number of teenage patients are opting for aligners as well these days!
